Why Tsavorite Garnet?
Unlike emerald, tsavorite garnet is never oiled or clarity-enhanced. What you see in the stone is what nature formed. It scores 7-7.5 on the Mohs scale, making it more practical for jewellery than many green alternatives. The best tsavorite displays an intense grass-green to blue-green hue with exceptional light return, and Ceylon-adjacent African deposits produce some of the finest examples globally.
Size & Price
Tsavorite above 2 carats is considered rare; above 3 carats it enters serious collector territory. Our featured 3.01ct cushion-cut tsavorite is CGL certified and priced at $6,000 AUD. This is a representative price point for clean, vivid green tsavorite of this size.

Is tsavorite treated?
No. Tsavorite garnet is one of the few coloured gemstones that is universally natural and untreated. Its green colour comes directly from trace vanadium and chromium.
Is tsavorite better than emerald?
For jewellery, tsavorite is often considered more practical: it is harder, less brittle, and free of clarity treatments. Emerald retains higher prestige and historic value, but tsavorite offers comparable colour at a friendlier price.
